Interesting and varied work for people willing to be flexible and accountable
I work within the Wealth Planning unit, which supports clients and bankers with wealth and estate planning solutions.
The work is exciting with exposure to different cultures and varied work.
The culture is collaborative and the role has developed with me. There is scope to craft the role according to what you are willing and able to offer. There is a sense of entrepreneurism, so that if you come up with a good idea which fits with the culture and commercial priorities of the firm, you can develop the concept yourself and take ownership.
The organisation requires people to work independently and take responsibility for their work, as well as being a self-starter and also being available for colleagues to help with topics they need assistance with. Mutual trust is expected and given, and people have flexibility to carry out their role with some freedoms, as long as basic procedures and the organisation's requirements are met.
Sometimes stakeholders (clients and bankers) can be demanding but expectation management and clear communication is key to ensuring this does not become a problem. Communication and accountability and ownership are key to success.
