Fun workplace

The people here are extremely friendly and always willing to help. The team is small but they get the job done. The building is beautiful with good views of the city.

Micromanaging, no work life balance, kid less workers are expected to cover for those with kids.

Poor management, employee happiness is completely disregarded, no raises, low starting pay for back breaking work. Gossip and rumors run rampant, over worked employees, and under paid

Pros

Great people to work with

Cons

Poor management, poor pay, no pto, or ability to move up in company

No support of staff. NICE PROPERTY

As a seasoned bartender trying to help them get back after PANDEMIC it was a painful redundant Merry go round of non communication and lack of urgency to give guest what they want or improve quality of amenities offered. Event planning was inadequate and like pulling teeth for simple things such as a count of attendance which happened to finally delivered 2 days before said event or liquor choices ask for by the paying party(which we carry normally) but no one decided to make sure was there and in closing register tape...None in the building with weddings scheduled all weekend. So sad. It's a beautiful hotel but GM only cares about her money...aka..BONUS.. instead of bettering for the company as a hole. The employees are great!!! Managers not.

Slow during off season

The management is solid, a little on the corporate side, but it is a hotel. The tips are really decent when there are ppl. During the fall through spring it can be really slow.

Great Culture and People

The team at this resort really care each other and their guests. Everyone feels welcome and inclusiveness is part of the daily culture. There is a big focus on structured training so each new colleague is properly trained.

fun workplace with okay hours

The team members were friendly and patient during training.it's fast-paced, but once breakfast is done you can take time to cool off and do other tasks.

Benefits make it worth it

The benefits of working for Hyatt are amazing. After your first year you get 12 free nights (6 if part time) to use at any hotel offering the discount (if you plan ahead you can go to some really cool resorts/hotels for free). I love my direct managers; they are extremely helpful and try their best to make our work environment positive. HR team is great at answering questions and making sure everyone at work is comfortable. Being a downtown location, safety is a concern; however management goes above and beyond to ensure the premises are secure and safe for staff and guests.

Pros

Great benefits

Cons

Corporate

Do not work at Hyatt near Berri Uqam. Terrible management and toxic environment

Manager would act like an angsty teenager. There were no customers and it was so disorganized. Management made no efforts to improve the situation and would constantly disrespect their employees.

Pros

Syndicat, good hourly wage

Cons

Very little tips and boring

Busy

Management in crushed by those above them causing issues for for level employees. I enjoyed the employees and guests as well as the dogs that would come along with their owners.

Works you to the bone.

Does not pay out benefits earned. Was rude to my husband and would not allow breaks that are stated in handbook. Really a heavily toxic environment. Proceed at your own risk.

Pros

None

Cons

No breaks

The work itself is easy it’s the management that’s a joke

The management do not treat you right at all and will fire you if they are threatened by you doing better than them. It’s at will so they can do that.

Flexible yet stressful

A typical day at work can anything from checking in a guest to phone calls to paperwork. Potential advancement if you are willing to be patient. Turnover high

I needed more time on the computer intricacies.

Really good people with whom to work.Pleasant work environment. In house management was very pleasant and capable.Maintenance fixed things as fast as possible. Boardroom management failed to promote certain in-house assistant manager who knew how the systems worked. Boardroom management removed from reality. Still, a good place to work. Generally an upscale clientele.

Pros

Free breakfast

Cons

No cons

Work you like a horse

Most managers did not care for the needs of workers. Having 4 managers only 1 really cared. They did not care about your personal life and would take advantage of your hours. They would make you pay for parking even though you can't park anywhere else. Make you pay for a break room even though they food was bad. Pay was fine, tips can be good during the busier seasons. Over all I grew to hate working there

Good insurance thats it

Looking for a place to move up??Well its not here Friends, sweethearts and lovers only The people who dont clean get more recognition than those who do NOTHING. Other departments are greattttt especially the casino they are paid really well unfortunately housekeeping who works the hardest is the least paid property wise.. towel attendants make more than those who clean which is shocking

Chaos

A bunch of people not knowing what they are doing. Except Sales. They are the only reason the hotel is still afloat. They never appreciate the good employees they have. They would rather have a high turn around and don’t care about customer service. They are doomed to fail, and you should just avoid it. Maybe if they were sold to an actual hotel management company and not some guy with a few hotels. It’s completely unsafe, and if you tell them you’re not safe, they fire you.

Great culture, disfunctional leaderahip

Not sure how a Hyatt managed property lacks qualified leadership at the top to corporate. Amazing how each property runs independent from each other but in a bad way. Lack of a central resource such training manuals, HR guidance, etc

Great benefits

Hyatt is a good company to work for. They take care of their employees better than any other company I’ve worked for. The insurance and free rooms are enough in themselves.
